I am a fifth year elementary teacher in a wonderful public school district in central Arkansas. I taught third grade for one year and first grade for four years. I also have experience in PreK and second grade. Before entering the education profession, I was a marketing director. I love teaching little first graders how to read!
I like to use visuals when teaching in my classroom, so that kiddos are engaged and able to recall, anchor, reference, and use self-help strategies to take ownership of their learning. I also believe that my students learn best by doing, so we incorporate movement, dancing, and cooperative learning in my classroom, as well!
My favorite moments are questions from my students about the Word Buddies, such as: "Are we going to meet a new Word Buddy Character today?" or "When are we going to get that Word Buddy on our ring?"

I live in central Arkansas with my husband, Jeff, and our sweet Yorkie Pomeranian, Bizzy. I am an avid runner, reader, nature lover, lifelong learner, Netflix watcher, creator, and homebody. My husband, who is an illustrator and graphic designer of 20+ years, and I created the characters and this system as a way to give kids (and teachers) a memorable and fun experience while learning a skill or concept! Each character and product is drawn and designed by us with six and seven year olds in mind. We hope that you find it as useful as I have in my classroom and look forward to using it every day!
