I have been working in education for seven years now. I taught second grade for three years and have been in first grade now for 2 years. I also have experience working with third and fourth graders.
I have an extremely structured classroom. I believe that routines and rituals are one of the most important things in the classroom, aside from the academics.
In the spring of 2013, I was nominated to be my district's Teacher of the Year. Although I was not selected, it was an experience I treasured, learned and grew from. In 2009, I was awarded with a Spotlight Award for my work with my first grade team on a Creepy Crawly Unit. This award is given to between 25 and 30 educators in my city each year (we have approximately 1,500 educators in our district). It was truly an honor for us to receive this award!
I attended Dean College and received my BA degree in Dance in 2005. In 2007, I graduated from Sacred Heart University with my MA in Teaching with a concentration in Elementary Education. I have also completed all of the necessary requirements for my 6th year degree in Education Psychology with a concentration in Educational Technology. My degree will be conferred in December.
I am a member of the PLC trainers. I also serve as a professional development leader in my building, leading meetings and PDs on technology. In addition, I am a member of the PBIS committee in my school. I was also selected as grade level leader for the 2013-2014 school year.
