TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my thirteenth year of teaching. I have taught freshmen for twelve years, and I taught sophomores for six years. Then, I started two elective classes: Contemporary Literature and Creative Writing. During the last five years, I began teaching AP Literature and Composition. Now, I am teaching sophomores and juniors at my dream job.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach using examples of what to do, instead of by using mistakes. I want my students to learn from the best examples and I explain why they are exemplary. I teach them skills that make them rely on their skills rather than mine. I am a teacher who only crosses a standard off my list when my students KNOW the material, not just that I taught it. To put it simply—I make students accountable by consistently asking why and expecting them to tell me.
