I have been teaching Pre-K for the Head Start Program for the last four years. While in college I interned at the Austin Children's where I revised exhibit curriculum.
I love to teach Pre-K. It is very rewarding to see these young minds soak up all the information they are given; it is truly impressive. I combine fun with learning by using games and songs to teach numbers, letters, letter sounds, simple addition and simple subtraction among other skills. My classroom has 8 learning centers: library, writing, math and science, ABC, construction, pretend and learn, art and sensory. While in these centers the children learn about our weekly theme while using theme related materials. I also use small group as a way to concentrate on concepts that a group of children may need additional help with.
Awarded certification from the 3 year Texas School Ready program in 2012. It is a program in Texas that mentors pre-K teachers working in at-risk schools.
I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas in Human Development and Family Sciences with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. I am currently pursuing my M.Ed in Community Counseling from the University of Houston.
