TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a full-time teacher since the 1998-1999 school year. I taught fifth grade in Lansing for two years before moving to my current school district. I taught fifth grade here for five years before I was moved to the middle school to teach eighth grade language arts. After seven years at the middle school, I am now the Title I reading teacher back at the elementary school, working with kindergarten through fifth graders.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Perhaps the single most important aspect of being an effective teacher is the ability to build a strong rapport with your students. The second is probably being a master of your content area. I strive to be successful in both of these areas. I try to teach with the whole child in mind, understanding that there are many factors that influence a child's ability to learn on any given day.
