I am a New York State Certified K-12 visual art teacher. I have taught at public, charter, and private institutions. I have taught K-6 for 2 years, and I have now been teaching Middle School (6-8) for the past 3 years. I am a current and active member of NAEA, and recently went to the national conference so I try to keep up with what is new in art education. I currently teach grades 6-8 at an independent school in Oklahoma where I have the freedom to create the type of curriculum that excites and motivates middle schoolers.

I organize my middle school art curriculum around essential questions. Generally, all of my units are open ended, allowing students to creatively problem solve. The themes for each grade level are as follows: 6th Grade - Foundations and Elements and Principles 7th Grade - Modern and Contemporary Art 8th Grade - Personal Art and Communication

All of my lessons and units indicate which National Core Arts Standards are being used. Most state standards fit well into the National Standards. If you have any questions on this please message me.
