TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught middle school Language Arts in Southern California for the past ten years. I have taught 6th - 8th grade Language Arts and English Language Development for students who are learning English as a second language. My Master's thesis focused on creating learning units for English Language Learners and special needs students, which I hope to bring to the general public to use.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Five years ago, I began implementing the mastery learning/classroom flipping style of teaching in my classroom. Through this style of learning, I noticed my students experienced a wonderful transformation in the way they connected with both me and their peers during our class time. They were more apt to speak to me if they noticed something was missing from their grade or if they did not understand something, and they took charge of their own learning. The videos and PowerPoint lectures I produced coupled with student Interactive Notebooks kept everything organized, and me a happy, sane teacher!
