I have taught US History in a 7th grade classroom for over 10 years now (including Inclusion and Honors students). My student population is diverse, and about 65% of my students are at/below the poverty level. I am also an AVID elective teacher. Professional duties include: Team Leader, Department Chair, Barnes & Noble Book Fair Coordinator, HYPE Mentor, CPS Mentor, Braves Camp Co-Chair, Leadership Committee, AVID Site Team, Relay for Life Team Member
I teach with the three R's as my cornerstone: Relationships, Relevance, and Rigor. Positive relationships build the foundation for every classroom and pave the way for effortless classroom management. AVID strategies, reading, writing, student talk, music, interactive activities/simulations, critical thinking strategies, and choice boards are just some of the mainstays used in my instruction.
