TEACHING EXPERIENCE

8 years of Math Education in public and private schools 1 year of science education in a public school 3 years as a math interventionist Most experience has been with grades 6-8, with one year in grades 9-12. Most of my experience has been with struggling learners in economically depressed areas. I currently work at a Tribal School serving Native American Students

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy giving the students the opportunity to explore and develop the concepts on their own. I find that this leads to a deeper understanding and better retention than just being told an algorithm. I rely heavily on manipulatives, when they are applicable because my struggling learners tend to understand better when they can "see the math." I used Interactive Notebooks heavily, but an still learning and tweaking that process. The students (and I) enjoy that all of their notes and practice are in one spot that they can refer back to when they need to.
