I have been a middle school teacher for over 20 years. While working full time in middle school, I have taught English courses at various colleges. I keep up with new technology and pedagogy to make teaching and learning productive for my students and me.
I am a creative person and want my students to enjoy coming to class even if they don't enjoy reading and writing. I use humor to get my students on board with me. We begin the year with creative, fun lessons in reading and writing, and before they know it, they're writing essays and reading novels I've chosen. My mom was right, "You get a lot more bees with honey, than with vinegar."

I have had many jobs. I was a fitness instructor, I made t-shirts at the mall, I worked as an accountant at various companies both non-profit and for-profit. I ended up in teaching after I got laid off from my last accounting job. I couldn't find another job in accounting at the time, so I change my profession. I can honestly say teaching is the hardest job I've ever had--and I love it.
