I have taught 5th, 7th, 8th, and high school math for 7 years. I enjoy all aspects of math and try to find unique ways to help students feel confident in solving math problems. I have years of experience using PBL units and hope to post some of them soon. This is my first year on TpT and any critique that can be given would be much appreciated!
I am a very laid back and witty teacher that holds the bar high for all of my students and never bring it down. I believe in a strong classroom management strategy before starting to teach for the year. I love to get students up and moving and showing them how they use everyday math. I know my content very, very well which benefits my students when they ask questions. It is not enough for me or my students to just use a formula. I like to explain why and how it works or help them figure it out on their own.
Yet to be added
I scored very high in math in middle and high school but was put in the average classes where I was not challenged. Luckily, a friend pushed me in class to pursue a math degree and a million years later, here I am with a B.A. in Mathematics! I am currently working on getting a Masters in Science with a 5-12 Physics endorsement.
I was born and raised in Ohio. Played softball at Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina (ahh the life of being 9 hours away from parents!) and then eventually matured and decided to graduate from The Ohio State University (yes, it is THE, says so on my diploma hehe). I taught right out of college (although I was a young and definitely mature 27 year old ;)). I lasted four years and thought maybe this isn't for me. I took on tackling the housing title industry with my mother and then realized, this is too redundant and I am not doing anything to change the world. So I followed a guy to Colorado and now I am teaching in Colorado (minus the guy). I love it! I am so happy I came back to the profession and can't wait to see what a difference I can make.
