TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started writing folk songs for my own children when they were toddlers as part of a balanced approach to prepare them for school. When my oldest daughter entered Kindergarten, I became a parent volunteer and found that my songs resonated with her classmates. A year later, I changed professions and began my career as an educator. My songs continue to be an important element of my current work as an interventionist in reading, writing, and math.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is based very strongly upon the principles of differentiated instruction. I have been known to try (almost) anything to help a student connect with a lesson or skill. The goal of my approach is to empower each student to realize that there are always other perspectives from which to view a problem, and that each perspective carries with it more options that could lead to a solution.
