TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching in the middle school for 20 years, seems like I just started yesterday. Currently I serve as robotics club coach, varsity track coach and a team facilitator. We get to take our kids on a variety of field lab experiences which I am grateful for. My students are now fundraising to visit Wallops Island Virginia for a 4 day ocean ecology field trip, if you live on the east coast, be sure to check out the Chincoteague Bay Field Station. Its worth a visit. This summer I am going to be spending a great deal of time working on MCL (mass customized learning) in the school system. Look forward to what I get to produce and share with TPT.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a minds on learning experiences. I want my students to engage the content first, this requires them to be involved in their learning. We experiment, build and design as part of our class. I enjoy integrating Google Drive Projects into class. Anytime I can involve a photo you can count me in.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I really enjoy teaching science in middle school. On many days I am amazed that I get paid to play with legos, set things on fire and take kids on amazing field trips. My own kids are now moving through my school and this has been a great experience helping me understand the impact of my teaching.
