My music background is performing in bands and orchestras. I play woodwinds and guitars and this is what I mostly teach. As a primary (elementary to middle school) teacher I have run a recorder ensemble for which I have written and arranged all the music for the past 27 years in Perth, Australia. My ensemble caters to students from 8 to 13 years of age who show ability and a strong work ethic.
My philosophy is that students will work hard to learn music they want to play and I have written and arranged all of this music because there was nothing available that suited my needs. My students start learning recorder in 2nd grade and join the ensemble when they are ready. I play all parts continually as I teach them and older students tutor the younger ones. Our ensemble has four sections of soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorder and all of these arrangements are written in four parts. These arrangements can be played by any four-part ensemble but they were primarily written for four recorders.

They are a culmination of my love or classical, jazz, fusion, rock, folk and baroque styles of music. They will lift the profile of your school's ensemble and increase your student's love of playing.
