I have been teaching Kindergarten in a large urban school system in Oklahoma since 2008. I have been blessed to teach Pre-K summer school in this same district since the summer of 2008. Prior to this permanent position I was a model lead teacher at a tribal Head Start here in Oklahoma. Head Start is where I learned the importance of parental involvement and how to develop a great working relationship with each child’s learning team. I received my Bachelors of Science in Family Studies Child Development in the spring of 2003 from Oklahoma Christian University. In December 2007 I completed my graduate work for my Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. I advocate for my students by serving on various committees at both the school and district levels. Teaching is my passion! It is the reason I get up in the morning with a smile on my face and a spring in my step.
I believe that students learn best when we take them from where they are and lead them higher. Students need engaging lessons, honest teachers and experience with the world around them. My students learn best when they can practice what they are learning and when they have ownership of the process.
