Heather Jones currently works as the Professor of Fine Arts at Genesee Community College, teaching drawing, painting, 2D design, art history, and photography. A teacher in Upstate New York since 1996, Heather has gained well-rounded expertise in teaching art at all levels—from kindergarten through college. She specializes in mixed-media arts and art education. Heather recently illustrated the children's book titled “M is for Mindful,” written by Robin L. Flanigan. The author/illustrator team believes in the value of integrating mindful learning into education, and has made it their mission to offer learning materials to assist teachers in integrating a mindful practice into the daily classroom in a meaningful way.
The TPT learning materials developed align with the “M is for Mindful" book on the subject of mindfulness, using an integrative learning approach. All materials have been developed in collaboration with working teachers and the “M is for Mindful” team. As TPT content creators, our goal is to assist teachers in creating a positive learning environment and mindful experience that fosters creative exploration, academic learning, skill development, and an advanced understanding of mindfulness.
An avid explorer of innovation, Heather was recently awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities and nominated as a SUNY Online Faculty Ambassador.
