I have been a public school teacher for 28 years. I have taught all grades from first through eighth grade. I was also an ESL instructor for two years.
I believe the greatest influence a teacher can have is to convince the students they teach to believe in their ability to succeed. I teach students how to develop the characteristics of success including determination, perseverance, compassion, and positive response to failure. When a student develops these character traits they are able to tackle challenges and strive for success. I use positive reinforcement to verbally reward thoughts, actions, and behaviors which are growth or open minded in character.
I was nominated for the Kohl Award and made the final cut for Wisconsin's state wide award for my research and application of mindset theories.
I have degrees in elementary education, behavior disorders, learning disabilities, and English as a Second Language.
