I have been a special ed teacher for 9 years. I am currently teaching a self-contained, instructional classroom for students with multiple and severe disabilities. I love it, and couldn't imagine doing anything else! I am one year away from completing my Masters in Reading from Illinois State University.
I believe in a multi-modal teaching style. I try to incorporate all styles of learning, as well all senses, during our school day. Most of what we do during the day is hands-on learning, incorporating song, movement, and crafts in our daily schedule. I believe learning should be fun, and try to make the day as fun as possible! I also think learning and assessment works out so much better when done through authentic lessons, and I strongly believe in play-based learning and assessment.
Just the honor of teaching wonderful kids in a wonderful environment LOL
I have a bachelors in special ed from Illinois State University. I also have an endorsement in early childhood, and I'm currently working on my masters in reading. I am 2 semesters away from completing this!
I am a single mom of four wonderful kids, who keep me busier beyond my wildest dreams!
