This is my eighth year teaching in a middle school setting. In the past, I have taught fourth and fifth grades, but my heart lies in the upper middle grades, where I currently teach (grades 6 through 8). While I have some years of experience teaching science and social studies, my knack for teaching is in the language arts. I am a self-proclaimed grammar Nazi. Half of my days are spent teaching the advanced language arts in the areas of reading and English. The other half of my day focuses strictly on English and writing. I love what I do!
Fun and interactive. I never sit still. I work hard to bring energy to my content and classroom. I love to try new things, but I also rely on tried and true practices. Harry Wong is my mentor. I have a knack for engaging my students through humor, yet I run a tight, organized ship keeping classroom management in mind at all times. You will find technology in my classroom regularly, whether it be iPads or Chrome books.
Graduated Magna Cum Laude.
I studied middle childhood education at Ohio University where I concentrated on the language arts and social studies. I also completed my k-12 reading endorsement during my four years at OU. I studied gifted education at Muskingum University obtaining a master's degree and a license to work as a gifted intervention specialist. My time a Muskingum also led me to complete the middle childhood generalist endorsement in the content areas of math and science.
I am an animal lover! I have two beautiful cats and a golden retriever puppy named Hudson. I would have more, but my roommate (aka hubby) won't allow it.
