Teaching is my life, my passion, and I could not imagine my world without impacting children's lives every day. I've been teaching in early childhood since 2002, and I currently teach in a multi-age preschool-pre-k classroom. In the last 12 years I have been a lead classroom teacher, as well as a specialist teacher for art, physical education, music and movement, and drama.
Although I am Montessori trained and have taught primarily in Montessori classrooms, I feel strongly that there is no one magical way to reach all students. Therefore I choose to incorporate many methodologies into my lesson planning to meet the individual needs of my little learners. Hands-on learning is vital in building a strong foundation in early literacy, math concepts, and life experiences.
Yet to be added
I love learning! I hold an MS in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, a BA in psychology, and a Montessori certification for teaching grades 1-3 (ages 6-9). I have over 30 early childhood education units. I also enjoy attending workshops and conferences for Early Childhood Education.
When I'm not in the classroom or making new materials, I enjoy being with my family and friends. My husband and I spend much of our time cooking, going to the beach, and catching up on HGTV programs. I also have a special affinity for animals. We have 2 cats and a desert tortoise. In my classroom we care for 2 leopard geckos and 2 fire-bellied toads.
