TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For the past 20 years, I have taught my own Movement in Early Childhood program at schools in Princeton and Montclair, New Jersey. I also frequently present workshops on the art of Movement in Early Childhood to teachers at local, state, and national conferences.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching combines movement, music, stories, and games. We use books as well as balls, scarves, hoops, sticks, and other props. We listen to sounds, and we make sounds. We explore our bodies, our emotions, and the world around us. We work to develop balance, coordination, love, and joy.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I come from a long line of teachers. My grandmother, mother, and aunt were all educators as are three of my siblings. I was born and raised on a Kibbutz in Israel, in a school system that combined the European educational theories (Piaget, Montessori, Orff, and others) with their own ongoing educational research and development, which emphasized a strong work ethic, community, and nature. I learned the art of working with young children from my mother (a lifelong educator and teacher of teachers) who mentored me for many years. I started the practice and study of Tai Chi, Chi Kung, and Meditation in 1995 at Tai Chi Farm in Warwick New York with Master Jou, Tsung Hwa. This study slowly has been incorporated into my work with young children. I am certified by the National Qigong Association as a level III instructor, and by the International Institute of Medical Qigong as a Medical Qigong Therapist.
