I worked in an informal education setting for 10 years, developing and teaching marine science curriculum to local elementary students and visitors at a dolphin learning center. Since leaving the service sector in 2006, I have worked in an independent school with a multiage structure and philosophy of teaching.

I attended the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and earned a B.A. in Communications and Speech, with a focus on conflict resolution and mediation. A summer job as a summer camp instructor at a dolphin facility quickly changed my direction and provided me with a new passion for teaching. For almost 10 years, I worked at Dolphin Quest and helped to establish the on-site and outreach programs. My main focus was to develop hands-on marine science curriculum for grades K-6. While teaching at Waimea Country School, I earned her Masters in Elementary Education through the University of Phoenix in 2007.
Originally from Detroit, my family relocated to the islands to escape the cold winters when I was in elementary school. When I have free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, going to the beach, and geocaching. I also actively volunteer with Boy Scouts of America.
