I have taught since 2005. I worked as an aide in a 1st grade classroom for a semester and then taught preschool and pre-K for three years. Following that, I worked in Title I schools teaching 2nd grade and kindergarten. I have also worked in Christian Education for three years, and now am teaching K at the elementary school I attended as a child!
Most of my education and training is in Child Development, so I am very big on making sure not only are the lessons and materials I use are educationally appropriate, but that they are also developmentally appropriate. I use the Daily 5 method to structure my language art center time, and then use the Guided Reading method to conduct teacher table time. I also like to provide a lot of hands on methods, similar to the Reggio/Montissori technique. For writing, I incorporate several handwriting methods and the 4-Square technique. In math, this year I am adapting the Daily 5 method using the common core skills to structure centers. And of course, I love free play!!

I am a Jesus-loving, sweet tea drinking, creative lady here in Oklahoma! I love working with students of all ages, but my favorite are the little ones! You never know what they are going to say next! I am currently focusing on creating clip art for other sellers to use, and from time to time, I will release some packets of activities as well. This is a link to my blog: http://missamysschoolhouse.wordpress.com/. You can also follow me on Twitter @AmysSchoolhouse or drop me a line to: firstname.lastname@example.org. I am open to any ideas for clip art based on units and themes you would like to see! Have a blessed day!
