TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am certified 5-12 in both English Language Arts and History. I began as a Curriculum Coordinator at a public middle school. I would take the curriculum that was being taught in the regular education classrooms and either modify what I was given or create completely new material. In this position I was creating special education curriculum for Science, Social Studies, and English, as well as teaching other teachers in the building how to modify curriculum for special education students. Now, I teach seventh grade English at a different public middle school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I truly believe that every student can learn, and that every student has a unique way of learning. I have been moving towards a student-led classroom, because I believe that every student learns on a deeper level when they are able to teach themselves, and encouraged to struggle and wonder and create on their own. Sometimes, this requires modified materials so that every student can make progress independently and feels confident.
