I am a former fifth grade teacher turned homeschooling mom of two. I began creating content on TpT for my fifth graders about a decade ago, but have since been on a long hiatus. I recently began hand-drawing illustrations that I hope to use in my curriculum. All of which I will share here in my store!
I loved having fun with my students in public school, and thinking of ways to engage them in learning that was meaningful to them. I have carried on the same attitude in homeschooling my own children. Our curriculum is interest-based, and a great combination of challenging, yet fun and rewarding.
Magic 104.1's Teacher of the Week Teacher of the Year
I graduated with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish from Oklahoma State University in December of 2009. Through a special study-abroad program at my university, I was able to do my student teaching in an English-submersion elementary school in Costa Rica. I taught reading and writing to fifth grade students who were fluent in both English and Spanish, and often many other languages. I lived with a Spanish-speaking family and was able to sharpen my language skills through that experience.
Beyond illustrating, curriculum-creating, and teaching, I have many other interests including reading, cooking and writing. I love Broadway musicals, spin classes, and coffee. I am passionate about social justice. As a homeschooling family with two remote-working parents, we have prioritized travel and exploration as a way of life.
