This year, I'm setting out on a new journey at a new school! I'm a 1st grade teacher at an inner city, privately-funded private school for grades K-2 (will eventually be K-5). I'm excited for a new adventure and all of the fun and excitement it's sure to bring! Previously, I taught 4th grade at a wonderful public school with a high ESL population for three years. I have been lucky to have had many wonderful experiences and have worked with some of the best teachers in the business!
Being a newbie, I have yet to develop a very "concrete" teaching style. I'm still pulling from all different resources, trying to shape who I am as a teacher. I believe learning should be FUN! I don't want my students just reading out of books and filling out worksheets; I want them doing, talking, and engaging with one another! My classroom is noisy and always busy busy busy, since we don't believe in sitting still for too long :) We all (the students and I!) leave the day exhausted, but always knowing we had fun, filled our brains, and did our best. **I'm kind of a minimalist when it comes to classroom design. I love black and white everything, and I like the way clean, simple lines look in my too-small classroom. I like to keep things simple, but not boring!**

I LOVE live music, traveling, drinking excessive amounts of tea, getting my "om" on during my daily yoga practice, and changing that "om" into "OMG" while watching Chicago Bears football :P
