MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I began my educational journey in a kindergarten classroom at Blessed Sacrament, and after graduating, moved on to high school at Sacred Heart-Griffin. Being part of the community at Blessed Sacrament motivated me to continue my education in a Catholic environment. I received my first undergraduate degree at St. Louis University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Theological Studies. After graduating from SLU, I began working as an aide in the brand-new Pre-K program at Blessed Sacrament. Working with that class inspired me to return to school so that I could be a classroom teacher, focusing on early childhood education. After two years at Blessed Sacrament, I had the opportunity to be the classroom teacher at St. Al’s in their Pre-K program as I worked to complete my certification. I completed my observational hours and student teaching in a first grade classroom at Owen Marsh School in Springfield School District 186. In May 2013, I graduated magna cum laude from Millikin University with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. My coursework also provided me the opportunity to receive a letter of approval for Early Childhood Special Education from the Illinois State Board of Education.
