I have been teaching for 12 years in rural school settings. I have been a grade six generalist, but I have also taught art from grades 5-12 and have a knack for graphic organizers so I have made some administrative documents.
I totally believe in teacher as facilitator! I bank roll the operation, but we all come together to make the work. We all have jobs and contributions and we make most decisions together through negotiations and compromise.
My students find me... they find my phone number, they find my FB account, they come back to my class when I have moved schools. They show up at my house on Halloween when they think it won't be weird. I don't have a trophy that says "World's Best Teacher" but if you ask most of the kiddos I've taught - who they love the best - IT'S ME! I'd rather have a teenager hug me in a restaurant they "just ran into" because they saw my car... then any other honour.
I went to 7 different schools, so I have a wide experience of different schools in different provinces. Then, I went to a Christian university to study History before an after degree in Education. Now... I read Bill Nye and keep sharp!
I am a Christian, a sister, a teacher and an artist. I am those things in that order.
