TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am an Ontario-trained and certified teacher. This is my first year teaching in a Kindergarten classroom. Previously, I taught SK/1 for 2 years and 1/2 for 3 years. I also teach English as a Second Language every summer for a local university. I have experience teaching every grade at the elementary level - as well as a high school English and ESL teacher in a remote community on the coast of James Bay!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am becoming more inspired by natural, Reggio Emilia, inquiry-based learning, and technology-integration. My classroom integrates expectations of self regulation, kindness, and social justice. I believe in focusing on student work - not on cute clipart (also, it keeps them focused on completing the learning task). My literacy programming includes Words Their Way, The Daily 5, CAFE, and Sound Skills. My Math programming is highly-interactive and utilized BUILD Math centers. See more about my teaching journey at http://misslaidlaw.blogspot.ca/.
