This is my 6th year of teaching. I student taught in first grade as well, so I have been teaching 7 years if you include my student teaching year.
I use a lot of Action Based Learning teaching techniques in my classroom as well as Whole Brain Teaching strategies. I try to incorporate project approach (Reggio Emilia) style into my teaching as well.
I was Teacher of the Year in 2013 for my school.
I grew up in my mom's classroom when I was little. She taught the early childhood age as well. I went to high school and graduated cum laude. I went to Charleston Southern University and received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated magna cum laude. I plan on returning to school to get my Master's degree. I'm looking into several fields to get my degree in, so I'm trying to narrow my options down to one.
I have been on two mission trips to Turkana, Kenya (Africa) with my church to work with the Turkanan people in the village Namariat. We shared the gospel; worked in a school; put on VBS program; helped build a clinic, missionary huts, and laid the floor for the dining hall in the missionary compound area. This summer, I will be leading a trip back.
