I have been teaching high school Language Arts for 13 years, and have been a leader in my department, school, and district for the past 7 years. I understand that balancing personal and professional time is the key to keeping myself sane, so I strive to build materials that allow for personalization and flexibility, and that can be used over multiple years, grade levels, and units.
I like to think of myself as upbeat, engaging, and fun, but my students say that I'm hard, demanding, and that I make their brains hurt. I love it. I live for it. I can't imagine doing anything else for a career. I also believe in making a connection with every student every day and giving them a reason to learn something new every day.
Hmmmm...does getting numerous hugs every day count as an award? I think so! :)
I have a bachelor's in English with a certification in 6-12 Education and I am a licensed K-12 ESOL educator. I also have a Master of Science in School Leadership, and I hold a valid Building Leader license (...which means someone could hire me to be a principal. Crazy, right?)
