TEACHING EXPERIENCE

[July 2011 & 2012] Rock Hall of Fame Summer Teacher Institute STI, Cleveland, OH Session Presenter (Educators from around the world)  Created break-out sessions for the participated of STI  Publish lesson plans that help engage student in the curriculum with popular music [August 1998–2012] Cleveland Municipal Schools, Cleveland, OH Music Teacher (Multi age p-12 license)  Taught general music to grades pre-k through eighth grade.  Established music programs within schools which included choirs, drama teams, rhythm bands, and dance ensembles.  Organized performances such as holiday programs, black history celebrations, school plays, and graduation ceremonies.  Fostered a respect for the arts within each youth and fostered self-discipline within each student who participated. [Spring 2007] Empire Computech, Cleveland, OH Student Teaching (3rd grade) (Early Childhood license)  Planned and taught lessons for math, language arts, social studies, health, and music  Organized bulletin boards and interactive centers  Planned and organized black history presentation for school wide program  Created classroom newsletter for students and parents  Planned and facilitated a unit project on cursive handwriting and identifying the five parts of a letter  Designed and implemented an acute tutoring program for selective students in preparation for the Ohio Achievement Test [June-August 2002-2012] Pentecostal Church of Christ CAMP CULTURE, Cleveland, OH Program Director  Organize, coordinate, and manage a five week summer camp designed for enrichment in the arts; Drama, Music, Art, Creative Writing, and Dance.  Supervise employees and volunteers.  Interview, hire, and train teenagers to work at camp. ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Rhonda Harrell is a Cleveland native who knows first hand what awesome impact music can make in a young persons life. After graduating from the Cleveland School of the Arts, this Cleveland Music School Settlement and Rainey Institute alum attended Howard University in Washington DC. Rhonda majored in psychology and minored in music. She found herself, once again, involved in the arts; this time on a teaching level. She began giving private voice lessons to local Washington D.C. youth as well as directing musical productions for area church youth groups. After matriculating at Howard, She return to Cleveland and began teaching music in the Cleveland Municipal School District. In 2007, Rhonda received a Masters of Education degree from Cleveland State University and continues to use her knowledge of early childhood/adolescent development to help excite youth as well as adults in the study of voice and other arts disciplines. Private lessons with this instructor, welcomes students to explore a tailor- made vocal experience that lets them enjoy the true essence of their unique gift.
