TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Learning designer and curriculum developer specializing in K-12 S.T.E.M and online courses. Serving clients in the educational publishing industry for 15 years. Conducted field research for two large scale National Science Foundation curriculum research and development projects. Taught library and research skills to K-6 classes, worked with faculty to align library services with classroom curricula, developed library budget, and reviewed children’s literature for acquisitions. Developed and taught Earth & Marine science courses in an innovative middle school summer program to prepare students from traditionally under-represented groups to pursue science careers. Developed and taught course on the science of music to at-risk high school students. Hybrid charter school parent-teacher in a multiage program setting.

Offering students fun kinesthetic and hands-on experiences as the foundation for building science concepts. Emphasizing models, observations, and imagination as a learning tools. Drawing upon wonder and fascination with the natural world as motivation to understand underlying principles. Valuing creativity as the highest order learning goal.
