TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a middle school social studies teacher at heart. I've taught 6th grade ELA/Social Studies (Ancient History); 7th grade US History (Beginnings-Civil War); and 8th grade US History (Reconstruction-Present). I am also an AVID teacher at my school. I have been teaching for 5 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use Interactive Student Notebooks in my classroom. Also, I focus heavily on student-directed work, instead of lecturing. I also use AVID Critical Reading strategies in my class in order to help students develop close reading skills.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Why I teach history: "It happened, therefore it can happen again: this is the core of what we have to say. It can happen, and it can happen everywhere." - Primo Levi, Holocaust survivor (In case you're wondering about my profile picture - I collect rubber duckies and have about 300 on display in my classroom!)
