TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught 3rd grade for four years and 2nd grade for two years. Now I'm am working as an instructional coach. I have taught at a Title I school and a non Title 1 school in Northern Virginia. I love teaching because I'm fascinated by the way students learn!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm always looking for ways to improve so I read tons of professional development books and take many different training as well. I am striving to include tasks in my classroom with multiple entry points, that challenge even my top students with increased rigor. I also try to balance that with consistent review. I want the things I use in my classroom to look good, but I never to compromise content with cute. I work to ensure that all my student succeed, I'm not ok with crossing my fingers and hoping.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I'm trained in Literacy Collaborative, Leveled Literacy Intervention, Do the Math and Responsive Classroom techniques. I've taken a graduate course on differentiation in the advanced academic classroom and enjoy applying the techniques I learned in my general education classroom.

I got married on August 10, 2013! We're expecting our first baby, a boy, in May 2016.
