I have worked in Special Education for 12 years and am heading into my 13 year as an Elementary Resource Room teacher. Over the course of my career, I have worked with a variety of students with disabilities including Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, Health Impairments, Intellectual/ Cognitive Disabilities. My experience spans Kindergarten through 6th. I've worked in Title school with high rates of Free and Reduced Lunch as well as high numbers of English Language Learners.
My teaching style focuses on providing students what they need not only academically but socially and emotionally. I work hard to create a welcoming environment for my students to learn, take risks and challenge themselves.
I was deemed a "Chalk Star" by my family. :)
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens' Point with a B.S. in Exceptional (Special) Education and General Education. I also hold a Masters of Education Degree from Lesley University in Language Arts. In 2009, I achieved National Board Certification-Exceptional Needs Specialist.
I am also an animal lover and volunteer at a local animal shelter. :)
