I've been a writer since I was five, when I wrote my first poem. In the last decade I have worked as creative writing group facilitator, a paraprofessional, a math interventionists, and now I am 5/6 Language Arts teacher - and I love what I do!
No Nonsense Nurturing...Lots of love with high expectations for all of my students. I am also a mother of two unique children - one with Asperger's Syndrome and the other Gifted & Talented, and LGBTQ+. This gives me a unique perspective as a teacher and I treat my students the way I hope my own children would be treated.

I have a B.A. in Elementary Education, a minor in creative writing, and an M.A. in Culturally Linguistically Diverse Education; all from the University of Colorado - Denver.
I have been published professionally multiple times as a freelance writer, and my husband and I owned a small community newspaper for several years. I was also the founder and one of the organizers for the Women's March on Denver in 2017 after seeing the impact that our political climate was having on my Latino students. My life's work is focusing is on social justice and equality; and teaching is my highest form of activism.
