TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My first year I taught 7th grade Language Arts at the same middle school I attended in my hometown. I left middle school for high school, where I've been teaching English and ACT Prep with a new learning style called Personalized Learning to 9th-12th grade. The LMS I use to teach these classes is Edmentum. I have some experience with Odysseyware too.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Most of my awards are not in teaching, but rather in writing when I was a reporter. I've also had two short stories published. One being in Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Power of Gratitude and You Can Never Go Wrong by Being Kind by Dr. Zeal Okogeri. I'm currently writing my first novel.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold a Bachelor's of Arts in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in English.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I started my career in the field of journalism, where I was a newspaper reporter for three years right out of college. During this time I felt a calling to education, thus I began the process of becoming alternatively certified. I've always connected well with teens over any other age group and I receive more joy from them than any other area of my life. I'm unmarried with no children, therefore I pour myself into the lives of my students, which I always call "my kids." I have one orange tabby named Milo. When not teaching, I love to read, write, cook/bake and watch movies.
