After my rookie year teaching Grade 7 Language Arts, I have moved over to Grade 7 Civics for 2013-14. Having a wide range of experience which includes running for the legislature, being on several towns' Boards of Civil Authority, being Town Chair of a political party in 3 towns as well as serving on County & State Committees, being a Planning Commission member, and a Library Trustee--my new assignment has me quite excited. This is my second year as a teacher (2012-13) after having been in banking & finance since graduating from the University of Maine's College of Business Administration in 1979. I was a long term substitute for Intensive Writing (grades 7 &8) last year, and also was a Classroom Teaching Assistant for an American History class and Language Arts block for Grade 8. I completed an alternate certificate program in 2011 and possess 6 certifications in the State of Florida. Additionally, I taught banking classes for over 10 years to adult students including Economics, Money & Banking, Principles of Banking, Mortgage Loan Processing, and Introduction to Mortgage Lending.
I am approaching students as I did customers from my 30 years in the business world. I believe they all can be successful and my main goal is to be an encourager to all of my students, just as I was when running an office.
