I have 27 years of teaching experience. I spent the first 5 years teaching middle school and high school. For the past 22 years, I have been teaching full time at the community college level. My true calling is adult developmental math and teaching non-credit entry level courses. It is such a rewarding experience to be able to help a student conquer their math fears and move forward with math! In 2010, I wrote the entire curriculum for our entry level arithmetic-based class in the format of a work text. Since that time, I have been revising and editing the work text to its current 7th Edition state. The curriculum has been received well and has helped to significantly improve success rates.
I like to keep students engaged and active during class time. Whenever possible, I use hands-on activities to help students discover relationships and make connections between concepts. My goal is to help students develop a positive attitude and gain mathematical confidence.
2013 – 2014 College Faculty Award for Excellence, 2009 Outstanding Faculty Member of the Division of Science and Mathematics, 2006 NISOD Excellence Award for Teaching
I hold both a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics Education
My husband and I are beginning our second year as empty nesters. We are the proud parents of two college-aged daughters. My family has played a very helpful and supportive role during my years of writing curriculum content and material. They have each worked countless lessons, completed hands-on activities, and provided valuable feedback and editing information. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have such a wonderful husband and daughters!
