I am a retired educator with 31 years of teaching experience. During my career, I taught in the public school system and as a full-time community college professor. My true calling is working with students of all ages that need to develop a stronger mathematical foundation. In 2010, I wrote the entire curriculum for an adult arithmetic-based developmental math class in the format of a work text. Since that time, I have revised and edited the work text to its current 7th Edition state. The curriculum has been received well and has helped to significantly improve success rates among the adult developmental math students. It is such a rewarding experience to be able to help a student conquer their math fears and move forward with their educational journey!
I like to keep students engaged and active during class time. Whenever possible, I use hands-on activities to help students discover relationships and make connections between concepts. My goal is to help students develop a positive attitude and gain mathematical confidence.
2013 – 2014 College Faculty Award for Excellence, 2009 Outstanding Faculty Member of the Division of Science and Mathematics, 2006 NISOD Excellence Award for Teaching
I hold both a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics Education
My husband and I are the proud parents of two young women who have recently graduated from college and married. We are enjoying our new role as foster grandparents to 4 young and energetic boys. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have such a wonderful and supportive family!
