I am a retired educator with 31 years of teaching experience. During my career, I taught in the public school system and as a full-time community college professor. My true calling is working with students of all ages that need to develop a stronger mathematical foundation. In 2010, I wrote the entire curriculum for an adult arithmetic-based developmental math class in the format of a work text. The curriculum has helped to significantly improve success rates among the adult developmental math students. It is such a rewarding experience to be able to help a student conquer their math fears and move forward with their educational journey!
I like to keep students engaged and active during class time. Whenever possible, I use hands-on activities to help students discover relationships and make connections between concepts. My goal is to help students develop a positive attitude and gain mathematical confidence.
2013 – 2014 College Faculty Award for Excellence, 2009 Outstanding Faculty Member of the Division of Science and Mathematics, 2006 NISOD Excellence Award for Teaching
I hold both a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics Education
My husband and I are the proud parents of two young women who have recently graduated from college and married. We are enjoying our new role as foster grandparents to 4 young and energetic boys. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have such a wonderful and supportive family!
