I have been teaching for over 10 years- in many different settings. I have taught in public and private schools. I have been a class teacher, French teacher, and taught in a Waldorf School (a specialty arts-based school). I currently teach Core French to students from grades 3-8, and Visual Art and Drama to students from grades KG-8.
I like to engage my students with projects. I enjoy bringing the arts and technology into my teaching as a way to cultivate student involvement. I feel that working with curriculum material in a project-style approach deepens the students' connection to the material and also gives a context which enhances engagement.
My students have been awarded grants on three separate occasions to facilitate the construction on new gardens/ wildlife sanctuary zones, or in recognition of their commitment to environmental sustainability.
I have a BA and BEd from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. My major is in English Literature, and my minor is in French. I am also certified in Sustainable Building Design and Construction from Fleming College, (Ontario, Canada). I also have FSL certification.
I am a parent of two lovely daughters and live on a small homestead with a vacation rental in Prince Edward County Canada. We keep bees and chickens and cultivate an extensive garden and orchard. Life long learning here we come!
