TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 16 years of classroom teaching experience. I have worked with Gifted and Talented students from elementary to middle level. With these students, I have taught critical thinking, SAT/PSAT prep, mythology, French, word origins and root words, and math skills. I have tutored students in upper level math (Algebra I, II, Geometry...) for several years. I have studied online courses as well taught with an online high school. Currently, I am teaching French (Levels 1-3 Honors) in a high school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use SmartBoard technology everyday in my classroom. I also incorporate iPad apps, oral repetition, group work, individual projects, speaking, reading and writing activities in French. I have also taught online so I am not afraid to add new technology to my classes! I love to find and create games that keep my students engaged.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been nominated for Lancaster County's Great Teacher Award (Teacher of the Year Program). Finished my Masters program with a perfect 4.0 GPA, graduated cum laude from Winthrop University, named a team leader/department head at SMS.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My undergraduate degree comes from Winthrop University. I obtained my Masters degree through an online program via Nova Southeastern University. In my Masters degree, I studied learning theory and how the brain functions and learns. This program provided me a wealth of tools to help me better reach my students. I also have a Gifted and Talented Endorsement from Converse University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have 3 children (boy/girl twins and another daughter) that keep my young and active. My twins are in high school and my youngest daughter is in middle school. All three children are very active with extra curricular activities including marching band, piano, dance, cheerleading and golf. We are an animal loving family as we have a dog, a cat, some fish, and a guinea pig. My husband is also a teacher--he teaches middle school math. I enjoy reading and doing Sudoku puzzles. My husband and I also enjoy walking for stress relief and to keep in shape!
