I have been in the education arena for over 15 years. I have taught in a variety of classrooms (i.e. self-contained, team teaching, and departmentalization.) I earned National Board Certification in Reading in 2006 and completed a Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology/Media in 2013.
My teaching style can be described as 21st century organized chaos. I love rituals and routines and am extremely organized. This organizational ability allows me to structure my class in a very child-centered manner because my students learn early on how to work effectively in groups. My love of technology is evident throughout my classroom and lessons. Students are encouraged to B.Y.O.D. (bring your own device.). We also use tablets and online resources to reinforce and review skills. I love collaboration which is why my students' desks are arranged in groups so that they have multiple opportunities to work together during class.
