My name is Nicole Kelley and I have been an ELA teacher for over 15 years. I have taught 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and AP English. The majority of my experience is in high school. I also have experience creating materials for districts and curriculum design for districts. I took a one year leave from the classroom during the 2014-2015 school year to be a District Teacher Leader so that I could help other teachers with curriculum.
I love to engage my students. That means that I try to make each lesson hands on and entertaining in any way I can. I build each lesson around a standards and incorporate lots of writing and real world experience.
ELA Common Core Ambassador (2010-2014) Regional Teacher Leader (2015) Speaker on Standards at SUNY Potsdam (2015)
I attended SUNY (State University of New York) at Potsdam for Literature and Writing as well as Secondary English Education. I later went back for a Masters in Literacy Education.
My husband and I have three amazing children: Madalyn, Hannah, and Lucas who keep us busy most of the time. We lived in New York for most of our lives, but now we live in East Tennessee and we love it. In our spare time we like to hike and travel.
