TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 5th year teaching English at the high school level, with one year of experience at a project-based charter high school for students with learning disabilities (especially dyslexia), as well as two years experience working in a continuation school setting. I currently teach English 2 for the third year, ELD for the second year, and 1 class of English for our on-site continuation school. Additional experience includes PR and marketing for small businesses as well as participation in a graduate-level graphic design program.

As a young teacher, I strive to balance excellence at work with dedication to home and family. As the child of a first generation American, I advocate for the ELL students who struggle every day in our classrooms. As a perfectionist, I struggle to find beauty in the trials and errors we make as teachers, but inevitably find disappointment in anything less than stellar. As a Generation Y baby, I aim to teach students to use technology responsibly and wisely in their day to day lives, and work to bring more modern texts and topics into what could be considered a dated curriculum.
