I am passionate about teaching the next generation of pharmacists and currently precept students for University of Florida and Florida A and M. In the past, I taught at University of Hawaii at Hilo and was recipient of their preceptor of the year. In pharmacy school, I was a teaching assistant for first-year pharmacy labs, and I also served as a teaching assistant at Duke TIP's Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC, helping with the marine biology course. I also worked as a private tutor for AP Biology. During my time as an undergraduate, I was the only student member of the General Education Curriculum Committee at UNC-Greensboro. In it, I helped provide suggestions to change the general curriculum for the entire university.
I have a very collaborative style and think that students learn best when there is mutual respect and when students know that instructors are excited to teach the material as well as continue to learn the material, including learning from students. I am also a firm believer in Bloom's Taxonomy and believe adults and children alike learn best when they are having to utilize knowledge in real-life scenarios to address problems that are being faced or to create projects and experiments.
