TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 12 years. During that time I have taught all grade and ability levels. I have taught in both rural and urban schools. I have taught in comprehensive education sites and in alternative ed.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I plan by starting with a high interest concept, current event, or piece of literature. Then I go to at the Common Core Standards to see what my students need to learn. Then I plan a unit by designing each lesson to match the standards, while keeping the students interested and furthering their reading and writing skills.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been a presenter at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Convention, the California Continuation Education Association (CCEA) Annual Conference, and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Convention.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have an undergraduate degree from New York University and a Masters Degree from University of California at Santa Cruz.
