I am a school teacher taking a break to homeschool my own children while they're young. I have formally taught in 1st grade, 8th grade language arts, and a 3-5th grade structured learning center. I have now homeschooled my children for 5 years and have covered all of their subjects K-5th grade for them at home. I'm also the Author of the book Home Field Advantage, and educational guide for new and prospective homeschoolers.
For me, it has to be fun and hands on when it can be so that students can get through it when it can't be. I integrate a lot of Montessori style activities into my language arts and my math is often heavily Steiner inspired. Other than those, I just like to keep it light so that students feel confident expressing their ideas and their concerns.
Renaissance Student teacher award, MTSU student teacher of the year award.
I have a bachelor's in Education with an emphasis in middle school math and science.
In addition to my book, Home Field Advantage, I also write a blog called at Home with Momma Skyla. Stop by and visit at http://athomewithmommaskyla.blogspot.com/
