I have taught 1st through 6th grade on the west side of Chicago for the last 13 years. I love the challenge of self contained, but have also taught middle school social studies and math.
My students learn best when learning has meaning and in a context they can relate to their lives. I work to plan units of student that are driven by a guiding questions, standards, and an opportunity to create a final product that will impact the world. I also know that students thrive when their social emotional needs are met, so we always start with a greeting and a check-in.
